Turnaround… the act of reversing or changing one’s position, usually in a positive way; after a period of difficulty or struggle.
The Bible is replete with accounts of characters, dysfunctional families who succumbed to human tendencies, and who would not, per standard criteria, even make it as nominees to the Biblical “heroes’ hall of fame.” A review of the lives of David, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (to name a few), would raise eyebrows, elicit chuckles and headshaking. How did they ever get their stories included in the Biblical narratives of those considered righteous before God?
As we leaf through the Scriptures and learn from the success and failures of those who came before us, may we understand their struggles as similar to ours, appreciate God’s provision for restoration, and reaffirm our faith in the Only One who can turn what is unfortunate into something hopeful and blessed to accomplish His purpose (Isaiah 46:9-11; Romans 8:58).
Happy Sabbath!
