What are you thinking about when you’re listening to
someone you don’t agree with? Are you thinking of a quick
rebuttal? Are you spacing out ? Are you thinking you are
right?
It’s hard just to listen and understand without having a pre-
meditated thought. In the times we live in, we find people
who will disagree with us and we will disagree with them.
How many of us though will take the time to truly listen and
empathize with their experience? In the end, we still may
disagree, but are we willing to know our biases, be aware of
our fears and start the process to understanding and
empathizing?
